"A FIRST ESTIMATE OF WHITE SHARK, Carcharodon carcharias, ABUNDANCE off Central California by Taylor K. Chapple, Salvador J. Jorgensen3 Scot D. Anderson5, Paul E. Kanive, A. Peter Klimley , Louis W. Botsford, and Barbara Block.... "The susceptibility of shark populations to decline across ocean basins and their role as top predators in ecosystems [1] have resulted in considerable concern about the Conservation status of many populations.
White sharks (Carcharodon carcharias) are circumglobally distributed apex predators with at least three genetically distinct populations, including one in the northeastern Pacific (NEP). They are highly susceptible to overexploitation and are currently listed on the IUCN Red List. "
How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number—living things both large and small. - Psalm 104: 24-25

Do you find most people are aware of the issue in California?
ReplyDeleteThat I do not know, but would like to know. I was just wondering the same thing on how aware Californians are. If you are aware and know that answer, do share.
